Meredith Vallee met Jonathan Plante while she was at work, as a waitress, in a local diner set in the small town of Gaffney, South Carolina. He was visiting some relatives, and had stopped in for a small pick me up when she waited on him. Though he drove her crazy while he persistently asked for her number, Meredith was drawn to this boy, and soon enough, he found himself calling Gaffney his home. After years of bickering, fighting, and a shotgun wedding, they conceived a child on May 17th 1985, turning their small little family of two to a family of three. Breann Margeaux Plante was a doe-eyed fair skinned beauty that stole the hearts of both of her parents, who thought that their daughter would save their doomed marriage. Always raised as a proper southern belle, Breann always had the charming mannerisms of her mother, and certainly showed that she was in fact her mother's daughter. She was classy, prim, innocent, almost too good that she could not be tainted. Her father liked to believe that he had given her his drive to succeed, which he doted proudly when she would bring home straight A's on her report card, or if she had made the cheerleading squad. Bre had the strengths of her parents, whom she thought were perfectly happy. If only that were true. When Bre turned sixteen, Jon announced to his only daughter that he was leaving Meredith, that he would be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, and starting a new life, without the two of them. While Meredith seemed fine with the idea of having full custody of Breann, Bre was ripped in half by the loss of her father. While he said that he would always love her, she knew in the back of her mind, and in the pit of her stomach, that when she said goodbye to him, it would be the last time she would see him. Unfortunately, that much was true.
While her mother attempted to keep raising Breann the way she had wanted, Bre was slowly, but surely, pulling away from her mom. She had grown closer to her best friend, Addie's family, the Maggs', and would consistently find excuses just to stay away from her own home. Their family felt like a family. Their mother wasn't dating men half her age, or telling her daughter about her sexcapades. Bre wanted normalcy, which she never received. When Meredith told Bre that she had met someone wonderful, Bre just shrugged it off, until the wedding, anyway. In come the step siblings from the West family, and Bre's mother's new family, a happy family. Although Bre grew close with her step siblings, she still wanted to shake up her relationship with Meredith, and her life. Just last year, she shed her 'good girl' image, and started to do things for herself. She still remained the same bright and bubbly girl that she had always been, just with a little more edge.
